In the mid-1700s, the British colonies in North America harbored discontent towards the British Empire and the ruling class in England. Despite knowing that things would worsen before improving, a group of like-minded individuals united to promote a shared ideology, which recognized that every person inherently possesses certain unalienable rights bestowed upon them by their Creator. Any attempt to limit or deny these rights was considered oppressive tyranny.
The group initially aimed to resolve their grievances peacefully, but were prepared to defend themselves against the encroaching empire. To this end, they formed the concept of “Minutemen,” a group of individuals who were trained and ready to defend their families and townships at a moment’s notice if needed.
It is estimated that only 3% of colonists actively fought in the field against the British at any given time, and this group came to be known as the 3%.
Today, the 3% represents the last line of defense for protecting the citizens and the Constitution of the United States against any threat, whether foreign or domestic, including a government that has become tyrannical.
